In the example we will use a Nokia 6600. Your phone's menus and responses may differ, but this will give an idea of what Whizzper looks like. You can also skip down to Installation, Registration or Login. Under Login, we will introduce basic concepts such as the Inbox, Password Change, Status Change and Exiting the Application. In general remember to Navigate by using the phones right, left, up and down controls and confirming with "Continue", "Select", or "OK".
In case you're not familiar with navigating via WAP we'll show a few shots on how to get to the Whizzper download page.
I find it best to make a Whizzper bookmark. From my WAP page I can keep up on new versions and goings on in the world of Whizzper.
I call it "Whizzper" and insert the URL for the download.
I save changes with Select.
I agree here.
This terminal connects using an internet connection. This saves me money, but a WAP connection is also possible here.
Here's the Whizzper WAP page. Self-explanatory... I click on Download Whizzper!
You can choose either to go right into the Installation process or see details on the application (version, kBs, etc).
Of course I will.
This terminal gives a choice of installation in the phone's memory or in the memory card.
Here we go!!!
I've got Whizzper now in my Menu. In other terminals it may be saved in Applications, Games, or similar folders.
After downloading and installing Whizzper for the first time on a new terminal, you're introduced to the Registration screen. Don't worry, this screen only appears once for each new installaion of Whizzper. If in the future you decide to install Whizzper on a new terminal but have already registered on a previous one, you're free to use your old username by simply selecting "Login". This will be demonstrated below.
As mentioned earlier if you've registered with Whizzper already, you're free to select "Login" as shown in the screen above.
However, if this is your first time, you're going to need a username; the 'New User' option is active by default, so hit "Continue".
Pick a Whizzper username for yourself. When your buddies see you online or wish to add you to their friends list, this is the name they will see and use!
With a successful registration, you'll be greeted with the welcome message shown above. This message also contains your password for future access to Whizzper but you can change it by following the steps shown Here.
But, if the username you've chosen already happens to exist, Whizzper will let you know and...
...provide suggestions for alternative usernames.
My phone confirms that I wish to submit this information over the network. I say Yes.
I am given a choice as to which Access Point I wish to use. In most terminals this is configured elsewhere.
As mentioned previously, loading Whizzper up for the first time on a new terminal brings up the Registration/Login screen. However, since we've already registered, we can hit "Login" this time instead.
Fill the form with your username and password then hit "Continue" to log in.
Whizzper connects to the server, verifies your login details and...
Loads your buddies!
Whizzper informs you of connections (successful or otherwise) to any chat services you have already configured.
After which you are free to browse your buddy list!
To change your Whizzper Password select the "Settings" option from the Menu...
Then hit "Change Password".
Type in your old password followed by the one you wish to change it to in the second box...then hit "Save".
Whizzper promptly updates your Password information.
As much as it pains me, there comes a time when one must leave Whizzper. From the Menu, scroll to "Exit" and hit Select.
