Backgrounds & Avatars

Backgrounds provide a way for you to personalise Whizzper. Also, any background you load doubles as your avatar, which your buddies are able to see on their own chat clients, just like you can see theirs through their Dialogue tab! There are two ways of getting backgrounds onto Whizzper; Upload from your PC or Download through Whizzper.

The first way is to Upload an image straight from your PC through the Upload Form found on our Home Page. Here's how...

Step 1 Head back to our Home Page and log in using your Whizzper ID, there's a form at the top-right hand corner of the screen for you to do this:


Step 2 Scroll down the page a little further and you'll find a small form with a "Examine/Examinar" button next to it.

Step 3 You'll notice that your current picture is displayed in the Whizzper sample screen on the form. Now, click the "Examine" button to search your computer for a picture:

Step 4 When you have selected your picture and you can see the path in the text box. Click on the "Preview" button:

Step 5 Your chosen picture should then be displayed in the sample Whizzper screen. If you are happy with what you see..click the "Confirm Upload" button which should have now appeared:

And thats it! The next time you log in to Whizzper, your new avatar will be there waiting for you..

The second way is through Whizzper itself, by Downloading an image directly from the Internet. Hit the Menu button and select "Settings".

Here you'll find an option called "Background". Select it.

Now you'll be given the choice to "Reset" your existing background back to the default Whizzper background or Download a new one from the Web. Select "Download" as shown above.

Now you're given the opportunity to enter the URL of the image you wish to use as your background. Select "Edit" from the Options menu to do this. When you're done, hit the Send button to continue.

* Note: Please be sure to use the full URL path to the image you wish to download. For example, http://www.whizzper.com/yinyang.jpg

After a few moments (and if the URL you entered is correct), you will receive a notification in your Inbox about the background update.

You can either accept or reject the background update by hitting Menu and...

Selecting "Yes" or "No".

Congratulations! You've just updated your background. Remember, your background also doubles as your avatar since your friends are also able to see it in their chat clients.
